How a new lawn goes in
It takes preparation and know-how. Get the soil right and the sod roots in weeks. Skip it and you’re paying for a lawn twice.
Step 1
The old grass, debris and rocks come out, and the ground is levelled and graded so water runs off.
Step 2
Fertilizer and amendments such as lime and gypsum, depending on what your soil needs.
Step 3
Rolls go down tight and staggered, then get trimmed to fit, with no gaps or overlaps.
Step 4
First watering on the day. New sod starts rooting in two to three weeks.
Weed-free Kentucky Bluegrass and fescue, grown for Ontario.

“I now have a functional backyard rather than an eyesore.”
My personal experience with the landscapers were awful until I met Daniel. He was professional, prompt and great to communicate with. His quote was very detailed and competitive. Then the crew he sent were all courteous, and hard working. They did an awesome job and answered all my questions. I now have a functional backyard rather than an eyesore.

Questions
Late spring or early fall. Temperatures and moisture help new sod root quickly then. Avoid extreme summer heat and the cold winter months.
It starts rooting in about two to three weeks. Full establishment can take a few months, depending on soil, sod type and weather. Keep the watering consistent until then.
We don't recommend it. Sod laid over old grass can't make proper contact with the soil, which limits root growth. We remove the old grass and weeds first for a clean, rich surface.
A starter fertilizer when it's laid. After the first month, a balanced slow-release fertilizer every six to eight weeks through the growing season.
Check the moisture first: sod should be moist but not soggy. If a patch stays brown after proper watering, call us and we'll look for pests or disease. Catching it early usually stops the damage spreading.
Not straight away. Once the sod is established, a few months on, aeration relieves compaction and helps roots grow. After that, once a year in the growing season.
Water less as it gets colder, but keep the lawn hydrated before the first freeze. Give it a last feed in late fall, and keep leaves and debris off it.
